NMLS Verification

Overview

To maintain a trusted marketplace and ensure compliance with industry regulations, FSBO.com requires all participating Loan Officers to complete NMLS verification during the registration process.

Verification helps confirm that loan professionals are properly licensed and authorized to provide mortgage-related services to consumers.

What Is NMLS?

The Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) is the official system used by state and federal regulators to manage mortgage licensing and registration for mortgage loan originators, companies, and related financial service providers.

Each licensed Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) is assigned a unique NMLS identification number that consumers can use to verify licensing information.

Why Is NMLS Verification Required?

NMLS verification helps FSBO.com:

  • Confirm professional licensing status

  • Protect consumers from fraudulent activity

  • Improve trust and transparency on the platform

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations

  • Verify eligibility for participation in the Loan Officer Program

Only verified Loan Officers may access certain platform features and benefits.

How Verification Works

During registration, you will be asked to provide:

  • Your NMLS ID number

  • The states you are licensed in

  • Your legal name as it appears in NMLS records

  • Company information, if applicable

  • Any additional information requested during onboarding

FSBO.com will review the information provided and may verify your credentials using publicly available NMLS records.

Verification Status

Your account may display one of the following statuses:

Additional Information Required

Common Verification Issues

Verification delays can occur when:

  • The NMLS ID entered is incorrect.

  • The name on the account does not match NMLS records.

  • Licensing information is inactive or expired.

  • Required registration information is incomplete.

Reviewing your information carefully before submission can help prevent delays.

Updating Your NMLS Information

If your licensing information changes, you should update your FSBO.com profile as soon as possible.

Changes that may require updates include:

  • New employer or brokerage affiliation

  • Name changes

  • License status changes

  • Updated NMLS registration information

Providing accurate information helps ensure uninterrupted access to platform features.
